Debate Mate - Autumn Term Course

Level 1- An Introduction to Debating

Level 1 is an Introduction to Debating with the first four sessions focusing on building all the fundamental skills necessary to debate using a range of group activities and games, alongside some individual learning. Students are able to practise and develop their ability to generate and construct arguments, listen to others, respond to interruptions and offer constructive challenges. There are several debates built into the course to prepare students for the final debate competition.

Debate Mate has a unique (and effective!) approach to debating, so all students who have not taken part in a Debate Mate programme start here. Don’t worry, our curriculum is specially designed to push students who have the experience to ensure they are appropriately challenged.
